Bio
Jerseycajun is a self-coined term used to describe yours truly based upon the two most influential geographical locations in my life.

After spending the first 27 years of my life in New Jersey, I moved to be closer to the majority of my family, who reside in Louisiana. I live just north of them in Arkansas now and pursuing a degree in art to further my goal of becoming a professional cartoonist.

The Jerseycajun has a great interest in constitutional issues and debate from a conservative classical liberal, miniarchist, libertarian viewpoint. Debate, of course, referring to the age old version which is no longer taught and bears no resemblance to the regurgitated talking points seen so much these days on the all-news networks. Jerseycajun hopes one day to express issues in comics form, without bashing ideas over peoples heads. There's enough of that going around already!

The Cajun's General Guidelines:

1) I've never banned anyone from my LJ, and most of my entries aren't 'friends only'. I like open discussion and hearing opposing points of view (though that doesn't mean I'll end up agreeing with you or anything :-) Unless a person becomes verbally abusive, or deposits vulger material in an attempt to make a statement, I probably never will. But I won't rule it out, so be warned.

2) If you friend me, I won't automatically friend you back. I feel no obligation for this. I do feel an obligation to at least check out your LJ page myself, guage the content of it, and then make a decision on whether or not to friend you.

Some things that will make it easier for me to friend you back:

  • Making polite, relevant conversation in your posts.

  • Having some interesting, funny, or otherwise intriguing thoughts and ideas to share.

  • Relatively regular updates. If I'm going to friend you, I would hope you would actually show up on my friends list from time to time (though some on my friends list admittedly only update once every 2 or 3 months at a time). This rule is one I intend to be more mindful of in the future.

  • Stating your own point of view with regularity.

Some things that will make it more difficult (or impossible) for me to friend you back:

  • Posting on subjects that would be inappropriate for a 13 year old to hear.

  • Posting on personal sexual issues or posts on what 'turns you on'. (Posting on sex from as an objective subject, from a non-graphic point of view, is not objectionable, and can be enlightening. Just as artistic nudity isn't the same as Playboy.)

  • Having a majority of your posts take this shape: "How I learned about the spread of athlete's foot - the hard way." or "What I ate for breakfast - June 17th 2005" What can I possibly contribute to those discussions?

  • Posting a disertation on world peace every other day without an LJ-cut.

  • Posting images with large file sizes that aren't behind an LJ-cut.

  • Other than these things, I want people who visit this LJ to have fun, and maybe use their noggin a bit.
