Now, if you're a parent, even if your kid asked to ride in the trunk, if you have two brain cells floating around you tell them NO!. It sounds like a (very poor) excuse anyway. I don't know too many toddlers capable of forming a request to ride in the trunk - and no parent willing to comply with such an absurd request.
More likely it was an attempt to 'escape' noisy children.
